UP TO FIVE (5) POSITIONS OF PROJECT MANAGER OF FUNDED PROJECTS
The ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence (ECoE) (www.eratosthenes.org.cy) of the Cyprus University of Technology (www.cut.ac.cy) invites applications for up to five (5) positions of Project Manager at ERATOSTHENES CoE. The positions are open either on a full-time or part-time employment basis.
The position is open to everyone internationally in the framework of the EU-H2020 “EXCELSIOR” project (Excellence Research Centre for Earth Surveillance and Space-Based Monitoring of the Environment; https://excelsior2020.eu/; TEAMING Grant no. 857510). Through this project, the Cyprus University of Technology is establishing the ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence in Space Technology, Earth Observation and Geospatial Technology in the EMMENA (Eastern Mediterranean Middle East North Africa) region, in cooperation with the Department of Electronic Communications (DEC) from the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy (Cyprus) and with EU advanced Partners the German Aerospace Centre (DLR, Germany), TROPOS (Germany) and the National Observatory of Athens (NOA-Greece).
ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence is an autonomous Centre of Excellence with Cyprus University of Technology as its sole stakeholder, specializing in Earth Observation, space technology and geospatial analysis. Cyprus University of Technology has experience in earth observations and geospatial analysis since 2007. Through the “EXCELSIOR” H2020 Teaming Project (https://excelsior2020.eu/), ERATOSTHENES CoE aspires to become a Digital Innovation Hub for Earth Observation and Geospatial Information by offering knowledge, responsible research, open innovation and application services capable of sustaining Cyprus’ development. ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence aspires to actively contribute to the European Research Area (ERA) priorities in Atmosphere and Climate, Resilient Societies and Big Earth Data Analytics, as well as to become the reference Earth Observation/Geoinformation Centre for research and innovation in the Eastern Mediterranean, Middle East and North Africa (EMMENA) region. A core activity of the ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence is to conduct high caliber, state-of-the-art research, both basic and applied. A central task is to acquire research funding for the Centre, to provide facilities for the researchers, and to support them to acquire funding for their research independently and via international and local collaborations. Collaborations with industrial partners are particularly encouraged and facilitated.
Description of the Position
The successful candidates will be responsible for ensuring the effective coordination, execution and monitoring of various research funded projects of ERATOSTHENES CoE in any of the three research Departments, i.e., Environment and Climate; Resilient Society and Big Earth Data Analytics. The Project Manager will be responsible for developing project plans, managing resources, ensuring compliance with funding and reporting requirements, and maintaining communication with stakeholders. This position requires excellent organizational skills, the ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines, and a strong understanding of project management methodologies. The Project Manager will collaborate closely with researchers, administrative staff and external stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate’s duties and responsibilities will include:
• Project Management and coordination both in terms of the activities foreseen for the organization as well as at a consortium level;
• Develop and maintain detailed project plans, including timelines, resource allocation and deliverables;
• Implementation of specific project activities, including the design of research methodologies, the performance of desk and field research and writing of reports; the development of training materials and other technical outputs; as well as the organization of project meetings and events;
• Monitor the financial aspects of the project(s) and prepare technical reports as required;
• Monitor project milestones, identify risks and implement mitigation strategies;
• Ensure projects comply with funding agency guidelines and organizational policies;
• Maintain accurate project documentation;
• Act as the main point of contact between project teams, partners and external stakeholders;
• Facilitate communication and collaboration among researchers, administrative staff and management;
• Contribute to the Centre’s strategic goals by ensuring alignment between projects and organizational objectives;
• Any other relevant duties deemed necessary.
Qualifications
• University degree in Engineering or Computer Science or Environmental Sciences or Social Sciences or Economics or Law or Business other related field;
• Master’s degree in any topic;
• PhD degree in any field e.g. Earth Observation, Geomatics, Engineering, Soil Sciences, Agriculture, Marine Sciences, Big Data Analytics, Computer Science, AI/ Machine Learning, Water resources management, Land Management, Physics will be considered as an advantage;
• Minimum 3 years of proven professional experience in project management and implementation of EU (e.g. Horizon Europe, H2020, ERASMUS+, Interreg, etc.), and/or national funded projects;
• Hands-on experience in report writing, including project reports and technical outputs;
• Experience in project monitoring and evaluation, incl. budget monitoring and reporting on performance;
• Excellent time management skills, ability to meet tight timetables and deadlines;
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English;
• Proficiency in the use of project management software, such as MS Project, PRIMAVERA, will be considered as an advantage;
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills;
• Excellent time management, organizational and administrative skills;
• Excellent team working ability;
• Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment.

The appointment will be for a period of one year (12 months) with the prospect of renewal for another one year. The annual gross salary for the (full-time) position will range from €25468.08 to €52908.42, depending on qualifications. It is noted that there is provision for 13th salary which has been proportionally incorporated in the monthly remuneration.
