The launch and operation of a new business is a vital part of the process in every dynamic economy. New businesses create new employment opportunities, increased value-added income, and often introduce new ideas, technologies, and products to society. A successful new business accelerates structural changes, using resources to produce goods and services that people want and are willing to pay for.
Of course, not all new businesses grow, nor do they all thrive. However, failure has proven to be an important part of the entrepreneurial development process, encouraging learning and personal growth for entrepreneurs, who redefine themselves through this process and start all over again with greater spirit and strong motivation. Thus, the level of entrepreneurial activity is a significant indicator of economic dynamism. It is a benchmark for every economy, allowing comparisons with other economies. Therefore, monitoring and measuring the level of entrepreneurship also enables the faster detection of entrepreneurship development. This is of great significance in the midst of a period of upheaval caused by the largest and most intense pandemic in living memory (GEM, Global Report 2021/2022).
The coronavirus pandemic has had multiple impacts on entrepreneurship; from stifling or limiting the intentions of entrepreneurs to set up businesses, to providing new market opportunities and remaining flexible and creative to be able to respond quickly to changing conditions.
Objective
The aim of the service is to encourage entrepreneurial activity among AUTh students and graduates, both as an alternative career option and as a new way of thinking, through the development of entrepreneurial skills that will prove useful for their future.
It is important for students and graduates to learn to think “outside the box”, to be creative and innovative, to take risks, to learn from failures, and to be proactive when solving problems in today’s dynamic world.
The Career Services Office aims to nurture the entrepreneurial spirit through its initiatives, to structure the thinking of students as well as AUTh graduates in an entrepreneurial direction, and to encourage new scientists to commence business activity.
